Our History
Founded in 1952, as the Easter Seals Society for Crippled Children and Adults of Hidalgo County, Easterseals Rio Grande Valley has been serving the community for more than 70 years, helping individuals with disabilities and families with young children live better lives. What began as a local commitment to meet the needs of the Rio Grande Valley has grown into a wide range of programs that support children and families in overcoming life’s challenges and achieving their goals.
Over the decades, Easterseals Rio Grande Valley has expanded to include critical early intervention and family support services. By partnering with families, we provide the tools, information, and resources needed to give young children the strongest possible start in life.
Easterseals Rio Grande Valley Today
Each year, Easterseals assists over 4,000 children and their families with young children in programs focused on intervention, parenting, child development, family strengthening, and early education. At the heart of our organization is a shared passion for caring—embraced by our dedicated staff, committed volunteers, and the many supporters who believe in our mission.
This heartfelt commitment to supporting children with disabilities and empowering families through early childhood programs continues to define who we are and what Easterseals Rio Grande Valley is all about. As we honor our past and look to our future, we remain dedicated to expanding opportunities for children and families across the Rio Grande Valley for generations to come.
